Drug Interdiction Campus
Technologists, Inc. (Ti) designed and built a secure modern campus for Afghanistan’s National Interdiction Unit (NIU), the agency charged with fighting narcotics trafficking and processing in the country. The 94,000 square-meter compound also houses experts from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) who train and mentor their Afghan counterparts.
The campus includes 41 new structures organized into a U.S. compound and an Afghan compound. Ti built offices, administration buildings, an operations center, armory, shooting range, helipad, barracks and dining facilities, fitness and recreation center, plus a vehicle maintenance facility, warehouse, and garage.
Ti also designed and built the facility’s water, sewer, power, fire protection, and communications systems. Special force-protection measures included ram-resistant fencing, entry control points with automatic antiram barriers, and four guard towers.
